Bernie Ecclestone has tipped Force India as a surprise race winner in 2014, with Nico Rosberg and Mercedes securing the title.

The 83-year-old cast his eye over the grid and selected the two teams to succeed this season - though admitted everything remains an unknown until the first race.

Speaking about the new regulations, which he recently described as a "farce", he expects them to throw up some unexpected results.

"Anything can happen under the new regulations. So I would not want to comment much on what could happen this season," he told IANS.

When asked if Force India could secure another podium this year, he replied: "Why a podium? I would love to see them win a race. And I am confident they can achieve that. They might not be as strong as the Mercedes but as their customers, Force India should progress farther up the grid."

He selected Mercedes and Rosberg for ultimate success come the end of the season though.

"The way things worked out at Jerez, Mercedes seem best prepared to succeed with Rosberg winning the title," he added.
