New Jersey, is it on? Or is it off? Nobody really knows for sure - not even Bernie Ecclestone it would seem - but race promoter Leo Hindery Jnr is almost certain it's on.
The race, which is set to take place on the streets of Weehawken with New York's Manhattan skyline in the background, was supposed to debut in 2013, but was then delayed until 2014 and the latest reports suggest it might never happen.
Hindery however is confident they'll be on next year's calendar despite the event's absence on the preliminary schedule published a fortnight ago.
"Bernie told us if we stayed consistent with the rules and applications then he would expect there to be a New Jersey race," he told Sporting Life.
"Time-wise, we have done everything we have been told to do, and when to do it."
The World Motor Sport Council will meet again in two weeks time to ratify an official schedule and Hindery expects New Jersey to be present on what could be a 22-race calendar.
"The calendar decision will be made later this month, and although I can't guarantee anything, we fully expect to be on it."
