Mercedes expect better pace in Monza

Mercedes are hoping for an improvement in their pace at the Italian Grand Prix this weekend after a disappointing Belgian GP which saw Lewis Hamilton drop from pole to third.
The unqiue demands of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit requires a low-downforce package which will also make an appearance in Monza, but Mercedes executive director Toto Wolff is confident the "refinements" they have made will see them challenging for the win.
"In Monza, we will use a refined version of the low-drag package introduced at Spa," he explained.
"We hope to see an improvement in race pace after the lessons we learned over the race weekend in Belgium."
Ross Brawn earlier admitted that whilst the package worked as it should have, they didn't get the set-up quite right and therefore struggled through certain corners.
"I don't think we quite got the car right," he admitted. "We were there or thereabouts but it didn't feel quite as sharp as we have had the last few races.
"Whether that was because of the set-up philosophy, or some of the changes we made, we will have to go back through.
"The aero package certainly did what it should do, but we were not very good in sector one, and our performance through Eau Rouge was poor."
