A photographer has complained to the Spanish authorities that he was assaulted by Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso on Thursday.

The photographer also claims his £5,000 camera equipment was damaged in the scuffle, which broke out as he photographed Alonso and his model girlfriend Dasha Kapustina.

Speaking to La Repubblica, he said: "Let's see if through this complaint he learns to have more respect for the press.

"He is an example to millions of children? He knows perfectly well that he was not provoked."

Further action could be taken against the Spaniard, but it's not believed that the authorities have yet made contact with the double-world champion.
