2010 grid rumours intensify
30/10/2009

The 2010 driver market has recieved some pretty surprising news; Timo Glock is in talks with McLaren. It is well known that Mercedes are desperate to promote a German driver of two for the teams they either supply or own part of. With Mercedes close to buying part of Brawn, Nico Rosberg is believed to have signed a three-year deal with the British outfit.

On the other hand, McLaren are believed to have baulked at the idea of paying Kimi Raikkonen the wage he demands, and are believed, according to well-placed sources, to be discussing a rolling-contract deal with Timo Glock, with set targets for him to match to earn a contract for the following years.

Glock's manager had promised a big surprise for his driver this week, and it is believed that this is the surprise that is entailed.

Toyota are close to finalizing their first driver, Heikki Kovalainen. Kovalainen has been told by McLaren that they no longer require his services, to the disappointment of Lewis Hamilton, but Heikki has now reportedly signed a two-year deal with Toyota, where he will be partnered by Kamui Kobayashi.

Kimi Raikkonen is reportedly ready to fall back on a deal with Toyota to force out Kobayashi as he currently has no contract and lead an all-Finnish team.

Lotus are ready to sign Jarno Trulli and will offer him a one-year deal with an option to a two-year deal.

Ferrari have already secured their line-up with Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, Toro Rosso are reportedly willing to re-sign both of their drivers, and Force India look likely to do the same.

More on the drivers' market as we receive it.
